Lyrics - vgperson's Translations (2024)

The great umbrella covering the earth.
A tower is built in the center, propping up a mass of machinery.
As one would expect, the village below gets no sun,
and is tormented by leaks called "rain."
But the people do not question.
For it is commonplace.
It means nothing.
It is simply "law."

On a day hid by the umbrella, the sky was crying,
And the town, blind, suspects nothing
You faced the umbrella and spit at it,
It sank into the rain, and we were left silent

We didn't hear anyone,
But he grasped the rain
He took my hand, and toward the umbrella...
We ran...

Together, we made a promise:
"We'll go see that sky we've only seen in storybooks..."
And in that moment, the rain seemed to go away,
And our sadnesses, too, were forgotten

Struggling together through recurring rain, the two reached the umbrella tower.
With one push, the shut double doors easily opened;
the two were not refused.
No one had even tried to enter.
It would have be the same had they been locked or not.
On the other side of that door,

As we head somewhere up a crumbling spiral staircase,
We're stained black among the dripping rain's echo
And I, about to cry, was softly comforted,
For you, ever so gentle, took my hand

Chased by a white shadow,
We run to a row of cages
But there's no time to look for reason...
Nor any desire

My hands trembling, you were there to support them
And so I stood, and simply watched your back
Melted into the darkness, the gears laugh,
But, look; a gentle breeze brushes your cheek

"The wind is blowing..."
The girl said.
The boy quietly acknowledged her.
Nothing could stop their feet.
It seemed they had come far, yet it seemed as if they had only just begun running.
The two were hopelessly small. No one found any trace of them.
No one found any trace of them.

Soon the white shadow chased us no more,
And though seeming very sad, it disappeared
Though smelling of rust and stained of black,
At last, the colors began to brighten
It seemed as if we could hear a voice from somewhere,
Perhaps our imagination, perhaps we'd just forgot
And lying at the end of the spiral staircase
Was but a very small door
Covered with dust, waiting all along

"Let's open it."
"Okay..."

There... it seemed we saw perhaps everything
Flowers blooming in every color, and a deep blue sky
In this captivating world, just the two of us...
I don't need anything more

And the sky that had been but locked in storybooks;
So returning it to its place might not be forgotten,
You gave me a quickly-made bouquet,
And as we laughed, I leant on your shoulder

At the end of the world, the umbrella is raised
And if only we could stay in such a world as this, it would be wonderful...

It won't be sad, not when I'm by your side...

On top of the umbrella where flowers bloomed,
with faces filled with joy,
a pair sleeps softly together...

The great umbrella covering the earth.
A tower is built in the center, propping up a mass of machinery.
As one would expect, the village below gets no sun,
and is tormented by leaks called "rain."
But the people do not question.
For it is commonplace.
It means nothing.
It is simply "law."

The umbrella blocking the sun, the sky crying on everyone
And the townspeople, all too blind, they question it not
Toward the umbrella we two faced, and you spit at it in disgrace,
Yet it too went into the rain, and we could say naught

In that moment, I know no one spoke;
He felt the rain, and as if provoked,
He took my hand, and then toward that tower...
We went running

Together we'd always been, and so you promised me,
"There is a sky that we've found but in stories, it's time that we went to see"
In that moment, the rain simply seemed to go away,
And so did our prior sadnesses, forgotten just the same

Struggling together through recurring rain, the two reached the umbrella tower.
With one push, the shut double doors easily opened;
the two were not refused.
No one had even tried to enter.
It would have be the same had they been locked or not.
On the other side of that door,

Crumbling, we quicken our pace, climbing up a spiral staircase,
We're stained black as the dripping rain repeats its echo
And I, nearly about to cry, was encouraged by you so nearby,
As you gently held to my hand and took me in tow

Chased down by a shadow glimmering white,
Countless rows of cages passed out of sight
Yet there was no time to search for a reason...
Nor'd we want to

My hands started trembling, but you could hold them still
Given such aid, I could not be afraid; to protect you, my only will
Gears lurking within the darkness laugh, and all seems bleak,
But, come, don't you feel the gentle wind blowing calm on your cheek?

"The wind is blowing..."
The girl said.
The boy quietly acknowledged her.
Nothing could stop their feet.
It seemed they had come far, yet it seemed as if they had only just begun running.
The two were hopelessly small. No one found any trace of them.
No one found any trace of them.

The white shadow chasing us stopped chasing anymore,
And though it seemed sad, its time came to disappear
Our surroundings smelled like rust and we were colored wholly black,
But at last, murky colors turned to clear
From somewhere, it seemed as if we could hear the faintest voice,
Maybe just imagined, or perhaps heard before
Waiting past the final step of the great spiral staircase,
There was a small, ordinary door
All covered with dust, waiting here, just ignored

"Let's open it."
"Okay..."

And beyond it, we saw perhaps everything laid out before our eyes,
Flowers in bloom in a rainbow of colors, and a bright and deep blue sky
In this captivating world, with us two side by side...
All that I could need was right here, right by

The sky locked in storybooks that you'd promised we'd see;
Now in our sight, we should not forget to take it to the place it should be
So, quickly you made a bouquet, and though clumsy, just for me
And together we laughed; softly, on your shoulder I leaned

Waiting for us at world's end, the umbrella is raised,
And I know that as long as such a world is here, then all will be all right

Ever it will not be sad, not when I'm by your side...

Lying on the umbrella where flowers bloom in plenty,
their faces seeming filled with such happiness,
the two slept away, softly, together...
